I saw a quote the other day that said “some people are human medicine, you spend an hour with them and everything feels better” that got me thinking about how vital positive human connection it to our wellbeing.

It’s no surprise that spending time with your best friends has been scientifically proven to be good for your mental and physical health but spending time together whilst pampering and unwinding takes those benefits to another next level.

Relaxing activities like baths and face masks lower cortisol levels (the stress hormone) so combine these experiences with social bonding (your best friends) amplifies the release of your happy hormones (oxytocin, dopamine, endorphin & serotonin).

Some experts recommend that you spend time with your girlfriends twice a week. While this may not be possible with kids, work and just LIFE in general, I believe a simple call or FaceTime to be just as beneficial. In fact, a study published in the Journal of Social and Personal Relationships found that regular contact with close friends, even virtually, can significantly boost happiness and life satisfaction.

So take this as your sign to call that friend who always makes you laugh, lifts your spirits and reminds you just how loved you are. 🤍✨
